Course Description
Analytics sits at the center of modern audit quality, and this course shows you how to use it with discipline and impact. Sunish Mehta walks through where analytics fit in the audit pipeline, from preliminary and risk assessment procedures to wrap-up, and explains the requirements of AUC 520 for nonpublic entity audits. You’ll see how to design preliminary and final analytical procedures that actually surface risk, rather than just check a box, and how to connect those procedures to your audit risk model, materiality, and performance materiality.
From there, the course moves into practical “top 10” guidance for substantive analytics: developing independent expectations using financial and non-financial data, choosing appropriate techniques (trend, ratio, reasonableness, regression, benchmarking, scanning), increasing precision through disaggregation, and using analytics to target fraud risks while respecting the need for tests of details. You’ll also see what good documentation looks like so your analytic work stands up to peer review—tight, light, and clearly tied to conclusions.
