Course Description

This Virginia-approved Yellow Book ethics course provides a focused review of the ethical principles, independence requirements, and professional judgment standards that underpin Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). Participants will examine the public-interest foundation of Yellow Book, the conceptual framework for evaluating independence threats, and the distinctions between audit and nonaudit services, including the documentation and client oversight required to preserve independence.

The course also highlights key areas practitioners need to navigate in practice, including prohibited nonaudit services, safeguards, reevaluation of threats, post-reporting independence issues, and current Yellow Book quality management and CPE requirements. Designed for accountants and auditors working in governmental or federally influenced engagements, this webcast helps Virginia CPAs strengthen their understanding of ethics compliance in a Yellow Book environment.

NOTE: This course is approved by the Virginia Board of Accountancy (VBOA) to satisfy the Virginia specific ethics requirement.
