Course Description

Most professionals want to do the ‘right thing,’ but sometimes the correct course of action is not as obvious as we’d like it to be. Understanding the ethical standards of the accounting profession is key in practicing with integrity and avoiding ethical violations. This course will guide the CPA in understanding the ethical obligations, values, and principles of the profession and is designed to meet the professional ethics CPE requirement for Utah CPAs. This course provides a detailed study of the Utah Certified Public Accountant Licensing Act and the Utah Certified Public Accountant Licensing Act Rule, which are found in the Utah Code, 58-26a, and in the Utah Administrative Code, R156-26a, respectively. Participants will be provided with an overview of ethical thought, along with the core values of the CPA profession, and will be guided through the application of these values to ethical reasoning and dilemmas in consideration of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. Case studies are utilized throughout the course to emphasize subject matter. This course is certain to give you the insight needed to guide your practice with integrity using ethical standards of the profession.
