Course Description

The goal of this course is to provide the overall revenue recognition principles outlined in ASC 606 while also addressing some of the more specific media and entertainment considerations. Even though all of the existing revenue recognition guidance for these industries has been superseded, there are still specific elements within the overall revenue recognition standards that may impact media and entertainment entities more significantly.

After completing this section of the course, you will be able to:

  • List the five steps involved in the revenue recognition model
  • Recognize the considerations involved in identifying whether a contract exists
  • Identify the considerations involved with measuring the transaction price
  • Recognize the steps involved in allocating the transaction price to performance obligations
  • Identify methods for recognizing revenue
  • Identify how the revenue recognition model impacts media and entertainment entities
