Course Description

This comprehensive class, led by tax law expert Professor Leslie Book, offers a valuable opportunity for professionals to expand their understanding of civil tax penalties. The course centers on the concept of qualified amended returns (QAR), a significant yet underutilized strategy for avoiding accuracy-related civil tax penalties. Through this class, participants will gain a thorough understanding of civil tax penalties, including underpayment and substantial understatement, and learn how to effectively apply the concept of QAR in real-world scenarios. Additionally, the class covers the intricacies of superseding returns, a concept closely related to QARs but with distinct applications, especially in situations involving potential civil fraud penalty exposure. This class is an essential resource for tax, accounting, and finance professionals seeking to enhance their expertise in civil tax penalties and learn practical applications of QAR and superseding returns, particularly in the evolving area of crypto transactions.
