Course Description

Welcome to the course titled media and entertainment – specialized guidance.  This course is designed to help you navigate the specialized accounting principles and practices for the media and entertainment industry. It discusses all the important authoritative pronouncements on GAAP for broadcasters, cable television, films, and music.  Throughout this course, we’ll also include relevant references to and excerpts from GAAP.  Specific examples will also be presented throughout to help illustrate the guidance.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the basic principles of accounting for broadcasters, cable television, films, and music
  • Recognize different film costs, including participation costs, exploitation costs, and manufacturing costs, and their accounting
