Course Description
Many businesses do not need GAAP. In addition, there are many “big picture” issues in accounting that go “beyond GAAP”. This course will examine the variety of other legitimate options available, which are referred to in the professional standards as Special Purpose Frameworks (SPFs). Accounting expert Jeff Sailor will look at the traditional SPFs (cash, modified cash, and tax) in light of recent events and will also cover IFRS-SME and FRF-SME. To put things in perspective, Jeff will also discuss what makes financial statements useful. In addition, reporting issues and peer review pitfalls will also be discussed. This course is perfect for any CPA who works with small and medium-sized companies who do not need GAAP.
Learning Objectives

• Identify how to apply the cash basis of accounting
• Identify how to apply the modified cash basis of accounting
• Identify how to apply the income tax basis of accounting
• Cite the major components of IRFS-SME

Course Instructor

Jeff Sailor, CPA, received a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida. Upon graduation, he joined the auditing staff at Peat Marwick in Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked on a large number of national accounts. Jeff has managed his own accounting firm in Ocala, Florida, since 1984. During that time, he has also developed unique auditing approaches and auditing software. Since 1992, Jeff has been teaching accounting and auditing courses he developed to combat traditional “boring CPE.” Using a variety of creative teaching methods sprinkled with humorous video spoofs, Jeff is able to combine his in-depth accounting insights …
