Climbing up the mountain at eight miles per hour, the modern Swiss-made train will transport us through a forested canyon along a cascading stream as we head to the summit 14,110 feet above sea level. There we’ll enjoy incomparable views of the Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, the Continental Divide, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

A scenic adventure awaits us as we take the world’s highest cog railway to the summit of Pikes Peak. Climbing up the mountain at eight miles per hour, the modern Swiss-made train will transport us through a forested canyon along a cascading stream as we head to the summit 14,110 feet above sea level. There we’ll enjoy incomparable views of the Garden of the Gods and Colorado Springs below us, the Great Plains stretching to the eastern horizon, the snowy peaks of the Continental Divide to the west, and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at the New Mexico border nearly 100 miles to the south. Little wonder this is where Katharine Lee Bates found her inspiration to write the 1895 poem “Pikes Peak,” which later became the lyrics for “America the Beautiful”.

Created by many thousands of years of rainfall and erosion, these otherworldly geologic wonders are surrounded by native plants and wildflowers—together they create an extraordinary landscape. We’ll see such famous features as “Balancing Rock” and the “Kissing Camels,” and we’re certain to end up with incredible photo opportunities in every direction. Our tour also includes a stop at the Trading Post, where we can browse and shop for southwestern art, sand paintings, pottery, and jewelry.
