Ethics, Leadership & the Role of the CPA

Course Description

The CPA performs an essential role in society. In our role as a CPA we have a responsibility to the public which transcends all other responsibilities. What we say, what we do, and how we respond can and does make a difference in our efforts to safeguard and protect the assets of the organizations we protect.
The course focuses on a review of the principles of ethics in our society, including:

• A discussion of the responsibilities and core values of being a CPA
• An in-depth understanding of leadership principles relating to ethics
• A case study discussing perception versus reality of ethical behavior
• A case study discussing the importance of ethical behavior and its relationship to trust

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify the core values and responsibilities of being a CPA
• Ensure that objectivity, integrity, and due care are being exercised in the CPA role
• Identify how independence of thought affects ethical and professional behavior
• Recognize the CPA’s responsibility to the public
• Explain how specific  leadership principles relate to ethical behavior

• Discuss the importance of ethical behavior and its relationship to trust
