System Requirements & Troubleshooting

Internet Connection
You'll need a high-speed Internet connection (at least 282k dedicated bandwidth or faster) to watch the streaming video. If you're sharing an office connection, you can check your actual bandwidth using one of the many speed tests on the Internet. Simply type "Internet speed test" into Google or other search engine to locate one. Please note: Due to pop-up blockers, our interactive course will not work with other Web browsers, such as Firefox, Netscape, Safari, and especially AOL.

Windows Media Player
To watch any of the online courses, you'll need Windows Media Player. If you already have Windows Media Player on your computer, you might want to make sure you have the most current edition, as older versions can disrupt the viewing quality.

Adobe Reader
We offer our course manual for download as a .pdf file, which allows you to save the manual to your computer and access it later. In order to read the manual and use the hyperlinks for Web sites with pertinent information about tax codes, cases, and rulings, you'll need Adobe Reader 7.0 or higher.

Macintosh Users
We're sorry, but due to incompatibility between media players, Vern's courses cannot be viewed from a Macintosh computer. Please let us know if you use a Mac (e-mail: vern@hoven.com) so we can make the course available to you in the future.

Troubleshooting
If you have the latest versions of the required software but you're still having trouble, please reboot your computer.
