How many CPE credits can I earn while on a cruise?

You can earn up to 40 CPE credits on our 2012 cruise.

When are classes held during a cruise?

In order for you to fully enjoy the cities you’ll visit during your cruise, classes are held only when you’re not in port.

Can I book my cabin through my personal travel agent?

Due to limited classroom space on board the ship, participants must contact one of Western CPE's cruise specialists to make cabin reservations and to register for classes. Participants must secure their cabins through Western CPE prior to registering for classes.

How do I book shore excursions?

Shore excursions need to be booked directly with the cruise lines. Visit the Holland America Web site at http://www.hollandamerica.com/cruise-vacation-planning/BookShoreExcursions.action or call (877) SAIL-HAL.

Are there programs and activities available for children aboard the ship?

Holland America offers activities for children ages 3–17 through its Club HAL® program. Child care for infants is also available. Visit http://www.hollandamerica.com/cruise-vacation-onboard/Activities.action for more information.

Are gratuities included in the cruise fare?

Holland America will automatically add a daily Hotel Service Charge to your shipboard account. The service charge for suites is currently US$12.00 per guest per day, and is currently US$11.50 per guest per day for other staterooms(charges are subject to change). If service exceeds or fails to meet your expectations, you are free to adjust this amount at the end of your cruise.

What attire is appropriate for a cruise?

Casual clothing and good walking shoes are recommended for shore excursions. On festive formal evenings, ladies usually wear a suit, cocktail dress, or gown, and gentlemen wear a jacket and tie, dark suit, or tuxedo. For cooler climates, casual clothes that can be layered as well as a raincoat and waterproof hat or umbrella and gloves are suggested.

What is included in the cabin price?

The cabin price includes your room, all meals in the main dining room, meals in a majority of the ship’s restaurants, all nonalcoholic beverages, cinema movies, and various other activities that take place aboard ship. It doesn’t include your CPE, alcoholic beverages, bottled water, shore excursions, and specialty restaurants.

How and when will I receive my class materials?

A binder containing your class materials will be shipped to you 1–2 weeks prior to your departure date. Please be sure to bring this binder with you, as extras will not be available on the ship.

How do I go about making a hotel reservation or booking a flight?

If you like, Western CPE can make your hotel reservations and book your flights through the cruise line. It is also available after booking your cruise through www.hollandamerica.com. Please contact a Cruise Specialist at (800) 822-4194 for more information.

When should I book my cabin?
You should book your cabin as soon as possible once you're certain you'll be joining us on the cruise. There's a better selection of cabin types and locations on the ship the earlier you book. Western CPE handles all cruise bookings in-house. Our cruises sell out quickly, so please contact one of our Cruise Specialists as soon as you’re ready to book.

What is the cancellation policy for cruises?

Cancellation rates vary depending on when you cancel your trip. The closer you are to your departure date, the higher the cancellation fee. For information, please contact a Cruise Specialist at Western CPE at (800) 822-4194.
