The Complete Trust Workshop

This course provides in-depth information that will enable practitioners to make well-informed decisions as to whether or not a trust is the appropriate vehicle for clients' financial, estate, and/or asset protection plans and, if so, how the trusts can be best implemented and operated. Participants will learn about the many different types of trusts that can be harnessed to save clients income, estate, generation-skipping, and other taxes at both the federal and state level.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the role of the trustee and avoid problems relating to the trustee.
  • Use trusts to avoid probate.
  • Identify how revocable living trusts are affected by income, gift, and estate taxes and be able to apply that knowledge.
  • Incorporate marital deductions and marital and bypass trusts.
  • Structure an irrevocable trust that can be the center of an estate plan.
  • Identify the advantages of an irrevocable life insurance trust.
  • Create a dynasty trust.
  • Describe why a GRIT, GRAT, GRUT, or QPRT can be a good estate planning tool.
  • Incorporate trust options for older clients that will provide them security.
  • Identify advantages, tax consequences, and limits on charitable contributions and private foundations.
